– Greetings, Timofey! When did you started your publishing activity and what gave you reason for creating a Misanthropic Propaganda Productions?
– Devilish greetings to comrades from Poland! Well, I started my work with label near 2 years ago, in the middle of 2002 a. b. Before that term I provided a little distribution service.
I can’t say correctly, what was that pulse that moved me to creation of the label. Probably, I’ve felt necessity of self-realization in this direction.
– Your first release was a compilation "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum". I wonder, as for someone who just started with own label, if it was hard for you to gain all those bands for participation in this undertaking? Finally such hordes as Graveland, Gospel Of The Horns, Denial Of God or Argentum have already released records at their score, as also established position at the scene, so that kind of compilation in point of fact can't achieve too much in matter of promotion for them.
– Earlier I corresponded with participants of compilation; therefore we have quickly achieved the agreement when I’ve offered them participation.
Initially compilation wasn’t intended for the bands promotion (as you have truly noticed, the greater part of the participants is well-known in worldwide underground). By means of this compilation I’ve precisely specified priorities I adheres at the analysis of the world scene. Also, it is possible to consider this compilation as "paying tribute" to the honest persons of the real underground. To those persons, who are still remains true to their ideals…
– Next in order was tapes Ithdabquth Qliphoth, Abigail and Woods Of Belial. Two last positions are re-editions. How did you managed to persuade those bands that those stuffs should be released exactly by your label? Was that your idea and initiative, or just interested bands searched some label, and they just felt on the MPP?
– Yes, it was my initiative. I have been fascinated with materials of these bands, so, then I’ve offered them the edition. I’ve described the requirements to a visual part of the material. The bands agreed with my offer, therefore we have achieved the agreement very quickly.
– Ithdabquth Qliphoth, as the mentioned above compilation, you've released at CD-r. Many people in general doesn't appreciate that kind of carrier and trying to avoid it as they can. As I look at your announcements I see that you will also avoid such releases, in order to concentrate on cassettes...
– I do not try to follow somebody. Ithdabquth Qliphoth’s "Demonic Crown of Anticreation" album was released both ÌÑ and CD-r formats. I do not see anything reprehensible in CD-r format, issued by qualitative way disk is obviously better than some low-quality tapes with crappy xeroxed covers. However, in the future priority will be given to the cassette format, but I think that some releases will be issued as professional CD-r disks (especially under the sign of my sub-label that will be oriented for electro/ambient/noise stuff). Their quality must be closer to a qualitative CD.
– Did you thought about releasing CD's and vinyl's or for now it stands beyond your financial possibilities?
– I did consider this possibility but at present financial conditions does not allow realize it. The budget of my label is too low for this kind of stuff. Moreover, it’s a rather difficult task to print professional CD here in Belarus (all production powers are in Russia only). The situation with vinyl is even more pitiable – the nearest qualitative firm I know locates in Czech Republic. So, everyone can take out his personal judgement.
– Every release under sign of MPP is affixed with opposed to hard drugs text. Do you really mind that someone likes to indulge in drugs? At last everyone is responsible for his own life and doing with it what he like to do...
– Hmm, are you sure that you have thoroughly familiarized with the contents? I support the "Never Stop the Madness" campaign by the great Euronymous and it’s specified in booklets. Therefore, I do not object (moreover – I’m totally supports) the using of drugs by human herd. Weak worms dig own tomb...
– From MPP releases for me the most liking is Woods Of Belial music. What is the real MPP killer in your opinion?
– Jedem Das Seine… I am responsible for every release of my label. I didn’t feel disillusions till now…
– Besides the label you are managing has a pretty large distribution. You have hundreds of positions from almost all over the world, so for sure every person interested in underground music can find something for him in your offer. I wonder, how is business going with this distribution? I'm asking, because in nowadays people rather prefer to copy everything, than buy something...
– I didn’t make any detailed calculation, but all varies… Sometimes "the dead season" comes. But I think that moment, when my label worked with negative balance, comes to the end. Let we tell so: "There are no big expenditures but there is no big incoming". Nevertheless, I don’t mourn in this occasion – my Misanthropic Propaganda is initially anti-commercial label.
I totally despise those persons, who prefer a false material because of few dollars of economy. Especially I feel strongest negative opinion concerning fans of mp3. These pseudo-businessman destroy everything by means of their "high-quality copies": the work of group, label, distributors, that is those men who are really sacrifice themselves to those hard path. I saw mp3-offers of the Ithdabquth Qliphoth’s "Demonic Crown of Anticreation" in the web, it irritates me. But sheep goes their way and this disease is incurable.
– I suppose that Belarus can't be proud of some great, very active metal scene. How you can value this what is happening at your yard? How is the matter with labels, bands, 'zines, concerts and generally with people related with the scene?
– Nothing occurs here… I’m not interested in "Belarusian scene" – there are lot of stupid teenagers and blunt trendy pacifists. Something occurs in their "environment" but it’s unknown to me. The similar situation is observed with local labels. There were some labels within few last years, they were "sincere" and "constant" at first look but then two ways were chosen: either death or commerce.
Belarus is similar to a black hole concerning the closest neighbours (Lithuania and Poland for example). The same situation with Russia and Ukraine…
– In your announcements you have seven new releases, from which there is very promising Denial Of God, Terrorama or Dissimulation. When all of this will be available?
– I can’t say exactly… I would prefer to say: "In future…". I am very seriously concentrated on the quality of my releases, it must be higher only. Up to the end of this year I have plans to release 3 new MC’s (American Toxic Holocaust, Russian Deathmoon and Swedish Terrorama), and a first issue of my "Abyss Shining – Edictum Alpha" magazine. Time will show the future of my label...
– Is there some kind of label, which you are respecting in a special way (eventually for what)?
– You know, I don’t have any certain priorities – first of all I am interested in the released by these labels bands. Only after many years you can understand if this label is sincere in its work. I like very much those materials that were released by such labels like Lithuanian Ledo Takas and Dangus, Norwegian Moonfog, Polish Blutreinheit and some other. Quality is over quantity…
